In 2012, I had the incredible opportunity to capture President Obama’s second inauguration. It was an overwhelming day, with estimates of 1 million people in attendance.
I spent 20+ hours–from setup to breakdown–above the sea of waving flags in a scissor lift. As planes landed at Ronald Reagan Airport gusts of wind shook the lift, threatening to blur my exposures.
The final image was worth the stress and more as I was able to create an image that captures the sentiments of the day, and years, of Obama’s continued presidency.
